Myanmar Earthquake Response - the impact so far

Families are rebuilding. Children are healing. Hope is growing.

Amidst the wreckage, this is how healing starts

In the weeks since the devastating earthquake struck central Myanmar, thousands of families have been forced to start over. Homes and schools have been destroyed. Communities are still struggling with the emotional and physical aftermath. But thanks to rapid emergency response efforts, hope is beginning to return.

To date, over 327,914 people have received life-saving support. That includes emergency food, clean water, shelter kits and mental health services — vital aid that’s helping children and families cope, recover, and begin to rebuild their lives.

When everything felt lost, aid quickly arrived and recovery began.

Lives are changing - because of you

Our teams are still working in some of the hardest-hit areas, despite damaged roads, extreme heat, and broken communications. With help from supporters around the world, children are returning to safe learning spaces. Families are receiving hygiene kits and clean drinking water. And in partnership with the World Food Programme, cash assistance is helping families meet their urgent needs in a dignified way.

And yet, children and families still need help, particularly as monsoon season approaches. Millions are still without safe shelter, unable to return to their homes. Recovery is slow and uncertain. But with continued support, more families can be reached — not only with immediate relief, but with the chance to rebuild their futures.

With decades of experience in Myanmar, our work is rooted in strong local relationships — with faith leaders, community partners and families. Together, we’re focused on reaching those most in need and ensuring no one is left behind — not now, nor in the months ahead.

With each safe space opened, each family supported, and each child helped to smile again it’s a step closer to recovery. Together, we can keep hope alive.
